Since 2004, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) has been helping farmers in the Region of Peel implement soil and water improvement projects on their farms with support from the Peel Rural Water Quality Program (PRWQP). This year, CVC, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the Region of Peel partnered with ALUS on a three-year pilot that extends the PRWQP to provide Peel farmers with annual compensation up to $150 per acre for the monitoring and maintenance of eligible naturalization projects.
We’d like to invite you to the official launch of this new and exciting pilot. We hope you can join us Wednesday, September 28 at Caledon Valley Estate Barn from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a local lunch and walking tour of an ALUS tree planting project. Members of ALUS will share how they’re bringing nature and agriculture together across Canada and we’ll hear stories of how Peel farmers are taking action to improve soil and water quality, facilitate carbon sequestration and build habitat for wildlife with support from this new pilot.
